Southeast Michigan Metro Ethernet from Waveform Technology is a scalable and reliable technology used by businesses throughout Metro Detroit. Metro Ethernet is familiar, fiber optic based, networking product that Waveform can tailor specifically for your needs. Waveform deploys Metro Ethernet using a network stretching over 400 route miles in Southeast Michigan. Ethernet is a reliable and established technology trusted for networks large and small.

Reliable Connections

Metro Ethernet connections come in port speeds between 5Mb/s and 10 Gb/s. These connections can provide Waveform blended bandwidth for Internet access, a connection to any other carrier on our network, or another type of point to point circuit. Metro Ethernet has a lower bandwidth overhead compared to other transport types, such as ATM or frame relay.

The Waveform Fiber Optic Network is reliable because we’re locally multi-homed in Southeast Michigan. Waveform has built redundancy into our backbone to ensure that Metro Ethernet customers always remain online. Multiple up-streams give us the ability to survive carrier losses, and gives Waveform's customers immunity from carrier disputes and routing failures.

Adaptable Point-to-Points

Thanks to the inherent adaptability of Metro Ethernet, connections can also be used to connect to any carrier on our network via Metro Cross Connects. These can connect any point on Waveform’s fiber network, including our Michigan Data Center, to AT&T, MCI, Level (3), XO, US Signal, Cogent, Verizon Business, or select data centers. Waveform can also use Metro Cross Connects to connect a company's office directly to their colocated equipment in our Michigan Data Center.
